Palmetto Bluff Summer Concert Series: Deas Guyz

Palmetto Bluff Summer Concert Series Cold Beer -- Hot Nights Join us for six hot nights, under the oaks on the Village Green. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Concert begins at 6:30 p.m. $25 per car (load ‘em up!) at the Gate.

Proceeds benefit Family Promise of Beaufort County, and their mission to provide temporary shelter, family stability, and permanent housing solutions for homeless families with children by mobilizing community resources.

Bring your own chairs. And, you’re favorite Tuesday night date. Food and beverage will be available for purchase (Cash sales only.). If you’re carrying in your own picnic, please bring only hand-held coolers and/or bags. All bags/coolers are subject to inspection.

May River Expedition

Thursday, June 11, 2015

This 2-hour exploration of Bluffton's May River aboard research vessel SPARTINA with Marine Biologist, Captain Amber Kuehn is hosted by the Coastal Discovery Museum. You will observe nature up close with a display of live organisms.

A scientific explanation will accompany a trip through this scenic river and salt marsh. From microscopic animals to dolphins, the possibilities are endless. Ask your technical questions and get educated answers.

Cost is $40 adult and $30 child (12 and under)

Agape Family Life Center Annual Food Drive

June 1 – June 30

We at the Auston Chase Community in a effort for more community outreach, have partnered with the Agape Family Life Center for an annual food drive for the Jasper County area.

These proceeds will go to needy families in the area. Please bring any or all donations to the leasing office. You may also direct any questions to Jemal Thomas, Leasing and Marketing Consultant.

We appreciate your support in a fight to end hunger in the community.

Ice Cream Sandwich


  • 1/2 cup light vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt, softened at room temperature
  • 24 vanilla wafer cookies (11/2 inches in diameter)
  • 1 ounce dark or bittersweet chocolate (60% to 70% cocoa solids), finely chopped


Line a shallow storage container with wax paper. Put a small scoop of ice cream (about 2 teaspoons) on a cookie and top with another cookie. Roll the ice cream sandwich in the chopped chocolate so the chocolate adheres to the ice cream. Place in the wax paper-lined container. Repeat with the remaining ingredients until you have 12 ice cream sandwiches.

Cover and place in the freezer to set for at least 30 minutes, or freeze for up to 1 week.

Serving size: 3 ice cream sandwiches

Maintenance Tip

Fire Safety part 2… Smoke detectors are your friend!

We all know the scenario, its 2am, you’ve got to work tomorrow, you haven’t been sleeping very well, and it happens…CHIRP!

What was that? Some hypersonic bird that got caught in your apartment and decided that it has to destroy you with its piercing, high pitched call?

No, it’s your smoke alarm! It’s really very easy to get the alarm to be quiet without pulling it down from the ceiling and stomping on it like you’re playing a life size game of “whack a mole”. Pulling your smoke alarm down from the ceiling and disconnecting it is not only dangerous, it is against the law.

All you have to do is push the button on the alarm for a second or two to set it into silent mode. This is ok to do until the morning when you need to call the office and have us put in a work order to change the batteries in your detectors. However, if you are fine with the time of day (or night) and don’t think you can take the chirp or feel confident in pushing the silent button, just call the emergency maintenance line! A chirping smoke alarm is considered an emergency. Our maintenance department is currently going into every apartment during our filter changes and changing all the batteries in the smoke alarms now.

Why Buy Renters Insurance?

Renters' insurance is a liability insurance policy which provides most of the benefits of homeowners’ insurance. The resident’s personal property is covered against named perils such as fire, theft and vandalism. Auston Chase, the owner of the building, is responsible for insuring it, but bears no responsibility for the resident’s belongings. If a resident damages the premises, the landlord and other residents can recover against the perpetrator's insurance. It is important to know what type of damage your insurance covers. Basically, there are three types of coverage available: loss of use, personal property, and personal liability.

As a renter, you may not think you need insurance. Auston Chase already has insurance on the building, right? We do carry structural insurance on the buildings, but you may not realize that our policy does not cover any of your personal property. What would happen if:

  • Your apartment building burned down?
  • A thief broke into your apartment?
  • A guest slipped and injured himself in your kitchen?
  • The apartment you're renting suffered water damage?
  • Windstorm or Lightning
  • Fire, Smoke or Discharge of Water
  • Vandalism theft or Malicious Mischief
  • Nine other common loss types

Renters Insurance Protects Your Belongings

Too often, people think they don't have enough property to make a renters insurance policy worthwhile. But take a minute to think about what you own, and what can lose, including:

  • Clothing and Jewelry
  • Furniture
  • Television or entertainment system

  • Musical or sporting equipment

Without renters insurance, you have no coverage for personal property loss or damage. Fortunately, you can get affordable renters insurance (also called apartment insurance) to help protect you in situations like these.
