If you live in an apartment in Ridgeland, SC and love BBQ then take a rid on Friday night. From 5:30 pm till 8:30 pm you can enjoy “Anything Butt” at Smoke in the Boro. This Smoke in the 'Boro event in Walterboro promises to be fun and tasty. This family-oriented two-day event will kick off with Friday night’s “Anything Butt” 5:30-8 p.m. Cooking teams will prepare anything of their choice, from chicken wings to seafood.
The main cook-off for the best barbequed Boston Butt and ribs will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Based on the number of cook-off participants, 20-40 judges — SCBA-certified and novice level — will assess the entries.
Enjoy live music, Anything Butt BBQ competition, a Butts Only contest and kids' activities. There will be live music both days and beverages will also be available. As with the Friday night event, the public may purchase tasting tickets for $1.00 each in order to sample Saturday’s barbeque and ribs and to purchase wine, beer, soft drinks and water. The event will also feature live music on both days. Also on Saturday, a cruise-in car show will be held.
Local teams and teams from around the state have entered. Trophies, a plaque, and cash prizes will be awarded on Saturday. Today is the last day for Cookers to submit applications.
For the public – $1.00 per sample. Admittance is FREE.
Smoke in the ‘Boro was developed under the direction of Wayne and Len Keith, SCBA-certified barbeque judges, who have participated in numerous cook-offs as judges and as members of cooking teams. The Keiths have a lifetime of experience in the barbeque world. The first Smoke in the ‘Boro, held in March of 2014, attracted 350 attendees and judges from across the state.
